The Black Market Jazz Orchestra is a sophisticated dance band that plays music from every era. The band was originally formed in 1993 to record a CD entitled "Art Attack" for Sea Breeze records. The Band quickly became popular playing Art & Wine festivals and doing Music Clinics in Bay Area Intermediate and High Schools teaching young adults the art of playing Jazz. With the success of the CD and the popularity of the band they were soon called to perform with big name entertainers such as Marilyn Mc Coo, Ray Charles and Tony Bennett.
The Black Market Jazz Orchestra now plays several hundred engagements a year across the country. Half of the band's work comes from corporate events, playing shows and themed parties. BMJO also performs at an average of 50 weddings per year The size of the band varies from a 9 piece for dance parties, to a 40 piece orchestra for shows.
The primary focus of the band is to perform music at it's highest level and bring the joy of music to as many people as possible. The members of BMJO are seasoned professionals. They can play any style of music at the highest level.
